I think too many people love Top Gear because they are doing great job. it will be on the BBC for many years to come.

There is no way the BBC should scrap it. Top Gear has bee on for years and this is the first serious accident they have had. Richard got injured doing a job he loved and it's a tragedy, I wish him a speedy and complete recovery, but should he not recover, the scrapping of this great show wold have been the last thing he wanted.

I don't believe they should either. As long as they took proper precautions and dealt with the situation as quickly and effectively as possible then the risks should have been minimal - there will always be flukes that cannot be planned for, freak accidents happen all the time and no amount of planning and preparation can prevent them, just reduce the chance as much as possible and prepare for the worst.
I love top gear because of the presenters and the unabashed boysclub-ness of it now. It's funnier than things that are specifically trying to be comedy programs. And so what if they test the super cars more than they test the every day thing? there are test drives and magazines for normal cars and I'd rather listen to the roar of an american chevy, than the blah of a citroen.
Here's hoping Hamster gets better ASAP - he's my fave presenter.

The ethos of Top Gear is speed, and it's designed for those with more money than brains, The pity is that it was Richard that got hurt not Clarkson, who has a ego as big as a bus. We don't need gas guzzling super cars, that was the 20th C, We need to realise we have energy problems and use some intelligence to solve them , not to glorify macho speed freaks. Give the program a rest and a drastic revision.

Richards accident was just one of those things that you know could happen but the risks are deemed acceptable when taking into account the safety precautions; it may even yet prove to have been a freak occurrence. So the answer is that this should have no bearing on the format of the programme, but clearly taken into account as lessons learnt.

I think they should keep the program. However, they should use more experience race drivers not amateurs... No disrespect for Richard Hammond or Jeremy Clarkson... I just think that if they want to run cars, then they must have proper training!!
I hope Richard gets well soon, he is so funny!!

No, but as I have been saying for a few years, they should do more things with normal, everyday cars.....How many people can afford the latest Ferrari or Aston Martin. Get real guys, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Toyota Rav4 please.
Speedy recovery Richard Hamster.

No way, Ol' white teeth knew the risks, and it's got nothing to do with how experience he was or was not, a tyre blew and the same thing could have happened when he was riding one of his many motorcycles to the Top Gear studio every morning

no BBC should not axe top gear, someone had an accident it happens to proffessional and amatuer drivers alike - accidents are a lot more likely on the normal roads than on the track. and as you said hope you recover quickly richard and can try to beat your speed cos if/when he recovers thats what he will do go back to driving because he loves it and who can blame him i'd love a chance to do his job if i thought i had the skill - which unfortunatly i know i don't

Much as I enjoyt TG I think it should be radically altered. Any show that encourages the burning of fossil fuels just for fun or sport is irresponsible and in deep denial regarding the danger we are in with global warming. I don't want to be a kill-joy, but we need to wake up and change our whole attitiude to conspicious consumption of precious and toxic resources.

That said I think RH is a great presenter and entertainer and is paying a very high price for his enthusiasm. I hope he makes a complete recovery as soon as possible. And best wishes to his family.
