you will need to contact the "familiengericht" (familycourt) where the divorce was granted. They will be able to issue a "abschrift" (copy) of their documents. A fee might be payable for this but will be advised. There is normally no need to consult a solicitor about this as they will only charge you lots of money for little work.

First of all, if you know what region/town the divorce took place that will help narrow your search considerably. If you know that, you can contact a lawyer in that region to help you in your search. I've included a website that may be helpful as well.
