The idea behind both fate and destiny is the same: that our trajectory in life is predetermined since birth or even before that. I think you should ask yourself if it's coincidence or destiny(fate)? And the answer is it depends on your own system of values. If you belive it's fate, then it's fate. If you don't then it's not. You see, non of this actually matters to the dead person, he/she is still dead. The systems of belives behing the idea of pre-determined fate are made to help the surviviors of the person (family, friends) get pass the survivior guilt and get on living, passing the trauma easier, as there is something/somebody they can blame it on.

There is no either/or relative to these two terms since they are the same thing. The block fell upon the head of that person fated to walk under it, because this was his destiny.

What ones Fate Karma determines is ones destiny.

It was his fate. Everything happens for a reason and if we could go back in time to change it, even a slight change could affect the whole future (the man may not have died from the gravel or even got it put on him).
Hope that helps.

no one can say for sure
if this wasn't his time then it was by fault, not fate
but if there was something that he couldn't for see it,if the man did live,he only destiny would be to die.
there's to Meany things unsaid to the fact of where if and the or and the then if and all the other things could have been for told.
we can't say it was or was not.
that's my true opinion.
