Definitely Half-Life 2, Far Cry is very good and intense, Painkiller is just plain awesome and addicting
Doom 3 is overrated.

Check out Medal of Honor! (Any of them are good). I don't play 1st person shooters much, but my boyfriend loves war games, and Medal of Honor (especially Frontline) are his faves!

You can try Far Cry, Chrome, FEAR each of them have their unique engine.
You can also try Serious Sam which is my favourite of all after UT2004.

ghost recon : advanced warfighters is an exellent game for U ,I think , and fear (it's like Doom III)also pain killer is good , it's sth like unreal T... .
