ending British rule there, and resulting in the establishment of the U.S.A., why are so many Americans so Anti - French.? Have you forgotten about Lafayette, Chesapeake and the Treaty of Paris? I genuinely don't understand the animosity.

To whoever just feels like using this as an excuse to swear about the French...they gave you your country, think about that for a second then PLEASE, give me a half intelligent and considered answer.

Can I also just say, please don't harp on about WW2, America joined half way through the war. And it wasn't as a favour to anyone else, it was in retaliation for Pearl Harbour.

Actually you did have to fight in Europe, since the Japanese were allies of the Germans.

And I'm not asking what America did for the French, I'm asking why the Americans don't seem to acknowledge what France did for them is all.

I am not anti French but remember WWI and WWI who liberated France. I think a lot of the people who are anti French view this as paid in full for their help in the Revolutionary war.

I believe you have a valid point about the French helping us gain our freedom, but I believe our debt to the French was repaid on the beaches of Normandy. That being said, the slate was clean and the French have done nothing since to warrant any further appreciation. I also don't believe there is any animosity in the U.S. towards the French people. I have been to France several times and find the people very cordial and friendly. Your government however does not always reflect the nature of your people. If I'm wrong, and it does reflect the people's feelings then you are in serious trouble.

US schools tend to gloss over the fact that without the French, there would be no America. Not only did they send us troops and trainers, their ongoing war with Britain pinned most of the British army down so that they were fighting us with only a fraction of their power.

But our schools talk about Washington, Valley Forge, Paul Revere, and the Minutemen. They mention Lafayette in passing. They mention French troops not at all.

And we started making them regret it pretty quickly. In 1803, when the French and British were at it again, they asked us for help, and we did nothing.

But our schools teach, and we remember, General Pershing's "Lafayette, we are here," when US troops FINALLY arrived to help out in WWI. And of course, we are very quick to point out that, if not for the Americans, France would be a German territory.

So, without the French, there would be no USA. Without the USA, there would be no France. You would think that we could count the score even and go on being friends.

i'm uncertain if its a query of who! I recommend the renowned Colonials won Indapendence from the crown and the regulations of the British parliament, The French, Spanish and Dutch won some minor territories and such...and clearly the British had to concede the colonies, yet i think of it replaced into all the encircling factors that led to the result better than one perticular rigidity or military.

So, the french joined the war to just hurt the british, not to help us. Wow, and yes WWII, we gave them their country back, we didn't have to fight in Europe to fight Japan did we?
