because most men ..when confronted in this situation...honestly dont think they said or did anything wrong...so they are like...okay...im innocent here ...whats your problem...
so..they know ur angry..but usually dont understand why lol so they clam up...not knowing what to say...or if they even should say anything...so man ..puts his best defense up....cold..and a deaf ear....at this point they have no clue as to what you are saying....or doing...they have entered the safe world called...man...tv..garage...fishing..playing pool whatever...where they will stay until the coast is clear.
just my opinion on the matter...

They figure if they can't say anything nice, they best be quiet to keep from saying something they may regret later. A lot of men cannot stand confrontation.
