Yes but be warned, the goldfish will view the plants as food, and you will have to keep on top of your water changes as there is always some die-off when starting new plants and the decaying vegetable matter is very hard for the health of your fish.

yes, you can, be sure to rinse the plants off before you put them in and wash your hands and arms before reaching into the tank, be sure that absolutely no soap is left as it can kill them if too much is allowed into the tank. You may also want to put tank conditioner into the tank after setting the plants. If they are live be sure to have the proper food for those plants, if plastic just rinse well and check the pH like before you go to bed and in the morning to be sure everything is okay. Also if you have rocks at the bottom be carefull how you install the plants, if you have a bottom filter system this shouldn't be too bad, but if you have an above filter, the waste from the fish will rise and go into the filter, just check the filter to see how it looks. Depending on how long you have had your tank will depend on the amount of waste and sediment created when you install the plants, this will float around in the water for a bit depending on how deep you sest the plant and how long the tank has been established, this is normal, but keep a close eye on the fish for any weird behavior and the filter. should settle within about an hour with a normal sized tank.

Yes. Technically you can, if you follow some precautions. This is if your plants are fake.

1. Make sure your decorations are rinsed thoroughly.
2. Make sure it is dark, so that your fish are less likely to be startled.
3. Make sure your hands are absolutely clean- and rinsed thoroughly of all soap residue.
4. Turn off your filter, heater or any electrical appliances and unplug them. (Make sure you unplug) Remove 15% of the water in your fish tank so that there is no spillage. Place the plants carefully to minimize disturbance. Then replace the water with dechlorinated water. Clean off spills. Make sure the wires of the electrical appliances have not had water drip on them. If so, wipe them carefully. Make sure everything, including your hands are dry.
5. Turn on your filter and/or lights and other equipment.

Enjoy!

However if you have real plants as opposed to fake ones, I'd advise moving your fish as the soil in the bottom of your tank will disperse in the water creating a lack of disolved oxygen in your tank that could be harmful for your fish. Let the water settle before adding your fish back in.

Before I would have said no, but here at work our fish guy came in the other day and he had his hands all over the place in there and are fish are still doing awesome! FYI He did mention that goldfish are very toxic, they can kill your other fish, just by the toxins they carry. He said if they die to get them out as soon as you can and then clean the tank thoroughly! I have a beta...that's all I can keep alive! Hee hee

Just wash your hands first.
There is a good chance that your standard type fish are going to start dying because of the goldfish. Goldfish give off ammonia when they excreta waste this will eventually kill off your other fish.

Putting in the plant is ok... but what doesn't sound too good is the selection of fish that you have... most fancy goldfish are not compatible with other freshwater fish or fresh water plants... here... check out this pages for compatibility..... .. .. .. . . . good luck

Yup, I do this all the time with all kinds of fish including exotics. Just be careful not to squish them under your decor. I am an amatuer fish keeper and brag about being good at it. You will have no trouble.

well, as long as you dont hit the fish and the plant is not too big for the aquarium. by the way, a word of advise, your goldfish will murder the plant because it will eat the plant

yep, wash your hands and arms first. Be extra careful to wash all the soap off your hands and arms. Soap will kill your fish.

I put my arms in my tank at least twice a month, when I do water changes, using my gravel vaccum.

Sure. Just make sure that your hands are clean and move slowly so as to startle your fish as little as possible.
