Can't go wrong with a slow cooker. Just add any spices you like, besides garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mrs. Grass' seasonings are great.. You then can add onions, tomatoes. Great

Here's my favorite.

Start fire on grill. You will want a medium hot fire.
One brisket (don't bother trimming the fat that can be trimmed before serving)
Cut up one onion.
Cut up a clove of garlic
Several tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
(Red wine makes a good substitute for Worcestershire sauce in this case)
Several tablespoons of your favorite bar-b-q sauce or steak seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste. (Basically any of your favorite beef seasonings will work in the mix)

Place brisket on aluminum foil with the fattiest side of the brisket down. I fold a couple of sheets of foil together to make a bigger sheet the won't leak. Spread your seasoning mixture over the brisket. Close foil over meat and seasonings. You will want a tight seal to keep in most of the steam, so the meat does not dry out. Don't worry the smoke flavor will still come through. Place on grill. Let this cook for 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours. Check with a meat thermometer, I like the thickest part to be cooked to medium then the people who like it well done can has the thinner portions on the edges. You can open up the foil some if you want a smokier taste.

This can also be done in the oven 300 degrees and use a large baking bag instead of foil (for easier prep and clean up). The cooking time should be about the same.

out on the pit. use some oak wood to start and let the brisket smoke for an hour or so. Then wrap the brisket in heavy foil and cook all night at 350 degrees. You will love it..

Three step process
1. after using nice rub on all sides brown in pan.
2.Cook on low in slow cooker for 4 hours.
3. Spread with bar B Q sauce and place on grill I put the coals on one side and the meat on the other. Leave for 15 minutes each side. If you can't grill do this last process in oven. on low. it makes a great coating for the meat. Ribs are also great cooked this way.

Add some oil to the pan and heat it till it's shimmering hot,
then fry the whole surface of the meat to seal it and caramalise. Then just add some water and let it slow cook. After that the option of herbs and spices is masive.
