"torture" can be defined the same way pornography is defined, you'll know it when you see it or feel it.

Only one person has given a serious answer so far and it looks like he quoted Webster, but the question is what is ment by severe physical, emotional or mental pain. Severe is a very vauge term, so until it is given a value it's hard to define what torture is. I'd say that torture should be given a value like if the so called torture is detectable more than a week after the incident, it should be called torture. But minor nonpermenant pain should be fair game. (In case any of you haven't guess yet I'm not a liberal)

Torture is one of the worse ways to get information. John McCain gave the names of the Green Bay Packers when he was tortured.

Torture is any act by which severe pain, whether physical or psychological, is intentionally inflicted on a person as a means of intimidation, deterrence, revenge, punishment, sadism, or information gathering. It can be used as an interrogation tactic to extract confessions.

Sure.....just haven't caught up to the President's and the CIA's REDFINITION of the word torture yet. In that famous photograph, the iraqi prisoner was obviously playing charades...he was a christmas tree...but nobody could get it ..so his team-mate...just trying to help...was lighting up his christmas balls. See....there's a rational explanation for everything...."WE do not torture....we do NOT torture...we DO not torture!"

Me, personally, I love to spend a Sunday afternoon sitting in the corner while my pals threaten me with their attack dogs..then we all sit around laughing and laughing...then they say, "That was so funny...you were REALLY scared weren't you...lol...you pissed yourself....then...hahahaha...then...when I actually let the dog go...and he kept biting and biting you...I ....hahahaha...thought that you were just gonna DIE...hahaha!"

Then we play "Did ya see God that time?"...this game involves waterboarding.
