I also take my own pillows. I just know someone has drooled on them and I really don't care if they've washed the pillow case.
I sometimes bring my own blanket. Hotels rarely wash the comforters and god only knows who did what on it before you. I nkow this because a friend of mine was a desk clerk at a reasonable (mid-grade) hotel. She said comforters are so big that you can only wash so many at a time. Otherwise they take forever to dry and they are so big that they take all day to wash.

I thought all hotels put those horrible plastic type covers under the pillowcases so if anyone does dribble it doesn't go on the actual pillow, now you have me worried so I am taking my own pillow next time I go away.

It depends on the hotel your checking in, Quality usually comes with a price. 3 star hotels and up usually takes room cleaning seriously as it well affect their hotel rating incase a hotel inspector or a mystery guest comes. all sheets, pillow cases, towels and other linens are change once the previous occupant departs. 5 star hotels change all the linens and towel daily.
low cost hotel on the other hand will most likely to recylcle or use their linens and towels to cut cost on laundry. i'm not saying that they do but clealiness and presentation would show the difference between 5 star hotels and the ones with low star rating.
if i'm going to check-in in a low star hotel, I always bring a towel with me and avoid using hotel towels.

Lysol....I take it with me because who knows what they did before me? LOL...I usually spray everything that the human hand can touch....phones, lights, doorknobs, tv & remote, faucet in bath and sink, floor of the tub, toilet seat and handle, all covers and sheets...along with the pillows just in case., floor in bathroom and if the floor in room is not carpeted I spray that too...I usually take the comforter of the bed and put it in the closet and just spray the rest of the room. I am very picky about where I sleep after I watched that episode on dateline about motel rooms. I only stay in Hampton Inn's though...they are real clean and whatnot....never had one problem with them ....

I'm usually so wasted by the time my head hits the pillow and could care less about the consequences later.

I always bring my own blanket and pillow. Some places don't put clean bedspreads on every time the room is made up.

I am the same way. I don't know that the people actually changed sheets and pillowcases etc. Plus, I can't get comfortable unless I have my pillow.

i am not particular, though i do bring my own toiletries. sometimes, i am even too lazy to bring along my own towel.
there was one time i did get scabies from a hotel bed. after a visit to the doctor, i then realised scabies can be gotten through sex. but i went with a group of girlfriends ♥ so embarrassing.
