My GRE score is 1380 and a 4.0 on the writing portion.
I plan to work closer to a field that revolves around creating more efficient renewable resources

probably pretty bad. Most people applying to the ivies have 4.0+ GPAs as well as good class choices, and good SAT scores. Hows your SAT look? What kind of extra cirric are you doing?

Your GRE scores... is that all three scores together? If so, take out the analytical portion of the score and just look at the remaining two. Colleges never look atthe analytical portion (I don't know why they make you take it when they don't even look at it!!)

If you live in PA, with a good GRE score (what does the school require for GRE scotres) and your GPA is a 3.3, I think you have a pretty good shot. They tend to give preference to students that are residents of the state before they will accept an out of state student.

Not only that, but if you already have a professor lined up to do research with you will have no problem at all. It is actually the college you are doing the research through that will accept you, the university just has to make sure all of your credentials are correct.

At least when I was accepted to grad school, it was the college/department that ultimately accepted me because I already had a professor I was working under.

Good luck!!

Did you mean GRE or SAT - if you apply to grad schools, the admissions requirements vary quite a lot from department to department. I would say that 3.3 is not a very competitive average for either undergrad or grad at Penn. Chances are a lot of their programs would require top students, and 3.3 is not even close to being a top average. You need to talk to some advisors about the standards at Penn before you waste a lot of time applying to a program where your chance of acceptance is not too good.

Your chances of admission are rare unless you have outstanding SAT scores and extracurricular as well as the essay. They look at more than just your GPA, however, a 3.3 is kind of low in their standards. Hopefully it's because you're taking a really tough class?

Try to max in other areas. Good luck ;)

You have excellent grades. Just try your best and go for it. Meanwhile, scout other schools that offer your degree program and apply there as well. You may be able to get a full scholarship by looking at several schools instead of one. You never know, you may end up on a different path than you planned but the benefits could be just as great, if not better than expected. Be couraged and keep pressing. You're doing an awesome job!

It depends on your application and letter of intent as well as test scores, too.

Actually not bad, that's about the average GPA of admitted students.

www.princetonreview.com and www.collegeboard.com should be helpful to you.
