Best of a sorry lot has to be Lionel Messi. He is the only guy that made me jump out of my seat at the World Cup Finals.
The worst...well, I assume you mean overrated as the worse has to be some pro playing the lowest division soccer in the Faroe Islands or some such outpost. I woudl say Frank Lampard is vastly overrated. The guy could not hit the net to save his life.

The best and the worst at the same time?
Pauleta - he is a legend for Portugal, but decided to become a whiny little a** under Scolari, which is quite embarrassing. I can't even imagine what would make him drop the dignity. Perhaps, Scolari could.
And
Christiano Ronaldo - one of the best dribbler in the world. I don't recall anyone could stop him one on one, but he always have to dribble into thee defenders at once. Once he sense that he is gonna lose the ball, he will take a dive without even being touched. During the dive, he would look for the ref. If the ref wasn't watching, he would get up and play. If the ref was staring, then he would get up and whine louder than a mating cat until the end of the match. Guess what's after? He will cry like a 3 years old got tripped over by a rock.
He is definitely one of the most talented player no less, but he needs to grow a pair.

I think it is still Ronaldhino. Even though he had a subpar world cup, I think he is still the greatest. The worst player has to be Steven Gerrard for missing all of those penalty kicks.

I guess that my answer is true. I mean... Everyone say that Lukas Podolski will be the Germany future captain. And about Marco Materazzi.... Sure he is the worst player in this world. He is the biggest cheater.

there is no worse player for me! every player is unique,and they are all somewere and famous because they worked hard! it's very easy to criticize people after their appearance!
