I havent smoked in almost three weeks. while I should be happy at my progress, I have been feeling down lately. I havent caved in to the cravings and iv'e been pleasant with my friends and family. Every morning, I lack the energy to make breakfast much less anything else, which results in me going to the fast food fat factories, and that brings me down because im trying to lose weight aswell. I don't know any more. If there is any one out there with some advice I would be greatfull. Thank you

having stopped smoking 3 pks a day, cigarette are more a habit than a true addiction- I ate more as we smoke just to have something to do. As for depression, a cigarette was your friend, you were never alone. It numbed your chest/ Walk around and see how stupid people look smoking. Treat yourself to something with the money your save.
Find something new to do, like joging. Youll enjoy the increase in breathing/

First, CONGRATULATIONS!
At this point you should be over the physical withdrawal. The bigger factor is probably your morning routine being completely off (I'll bet you miss the morning cig with your coffee, eh?)
This may sound weird, but eat and apple every morning. It will do more to get you moving than a cup of coffee. It will also give you a good healthy start to your day.
Create a new routine for yourself and write it down. After about I week it will start to become habit and you can go on auto pilot in the morning again.
Plan your meals. It might mean making lunch the night before, or cooking for a few days at a time but the fast food will do NOTHING to help you achieve your goals.

It makes total sense that this could be a side affect of quitting smoking. Find an easy/healthy way to deal with the breakfast issue. I go with protein shakes, as I'm not enough of a morning person to actually make breakfast. Beyond that, maybe a walk in the morning? It doesn't have to be a long one (walk up some stairs at work?) but you need to find a way to get your metabolism started and you'd burn some calories instead of picking them up.
You're doing great! Those first weeks are tough.

Yes, depression is part of nicotine withdrawal. Something helpful would be Wellbutrin, an antidepressant given to you by your doctor. It helps 100% with nicotine withdrawals. It helped me. Non-smoker for 10 month.

Yes depression is a symptom of withdrawl. Your doctor would rather see you fat than a smoker, ask him. If it persists, get some counseling and or some antidepressants. Dont go back, smoking is evil. Congratulations on quitting, its a real biotch!

I think you probably had depression before you quit, it's just worse now that you have stoped something you liked to do.
I would talk to a doctor about it. Medication might help you get out of your rut. I would do it before you get deeper, depression sucks, I have it and I would rather have help for it than just be sad every single day of my life.

this depressed mood could be from nicotene psychological withdrawal (the chemical withdrawal lasts 3-4 days) wellbutrin'zyban could still be handy. you don't gain weight, it may help you with psychological withdrawal and it may help depression as well. onve you are done with this int he next few months, you can taper the wellbutrin off completely. it needs to be prescribed, good luck
