Health care is not a matter for the federal government. Insurance companies are really in charge of health care and they should not be. When I started working and even later when I was having my children insurance was for major medical ie hospitalization. You went to the doctor and you paid the doctor. You got a perscription you paid for the perscription. It seems that as insurance covered more and more the prices on doctor visits and perscriptions went higher and higher. Now you cannot afford to go to the doctor and pay the bill. A lot of drugs are out of reach to a lot of people. This is why I say insurance companies are running health care. But unless the feds are going to reel in the cost of insurance we should not expect them to do health care.
Education is a different matter. We as a nation do not spend enough on education. We know that children learn better in smaller groups and we know that some children are extra bright and that some children need a lot more help. But with our current funding we are short changing all groups. We need more teachers and we need to pay them better. I have yet to meet a teacher who does not spend tons of his or her own money to provide the things in the classroom that make learning fun. They invest so many more hours than we think. Days running from 7:00 AM to 5 or 6 PM. Most teachers also have summer jobs just to have extra income. Along with smaller classes we will need more schools. The trend today is to the mega school where the individual gets lost. If we have more money perhaps this trend would end and schools would again become small communities where the individual is recognized and is deemed important.

Both should be done by the individual states. Too much money is wasted in federal bureaucracy. Education first, health care second. Good education leads to better lifestyle and better health along with less crime and lower unemployment.

Education by far supersedes Health Care in my opinion. It is a shame to have to pick one over the other. But ignorance leads to poor decision making on so many levels that it must be considered a priority.

Health care. Education will follow. But honestly, there's absolutely no reason why we can't take care of both at once. It's just a matter of appropriating the money *cough war in Iraq cough*

since both are issues of money why not hit the source of most financial problems all americans face first and that would be the corrupt federal reserve system ... once we got rid of that leech sucking everyone dry including the the govt, i think everything could be revamped almost at once to everyones benefit ...
