I took a HPT yesterday am and it showed a dark pink line and a faint pink line, but the lines weren't close together! The directions say that the liines don't have to be the same color so I took it as a positive and they also say that the positive result will last for at least 48 hours and the test still reads the same! I went today to take another test to be sure and it said negative!! I have an appt today and I'm gonna try to get the blood work done and I have another appt next week to get the details if I am pregnant!! I've had the symptoms and my cycle is late!! Has this happened to anyone before?? If so, what were your results???

Any line, no matter how faint, is a positive result. However, the line should have been darker 2 days later, not gone alltogether. I would definitely get the blood work done to know for sure.

It is possible to get a "false positive" 3 months ago my daughter took a HPT and it showed positive. we were all happy etc. She had her doctor appointment and again the PT was positive. When she went in for the ultra sound, there was no baby! The doc did a biopsy on her cervix and there were abnormal cells the final diagnosis was a hormone imbalance so she is on medication to balance out then try again for a baby
