Tough territory. Many female/male friendships go other places. It's a natural progression. You like, love, or care about the person, and they are of the opposite sex. Even if you were not attracted to them in the beginning, the caring creates it. It happened to me with disastrous results.
Don't fall into the trap of fooling yourself, it will happen. Better to stay friends, but "at arms length" friends then to become close friends.
Good luck

Well, first you should talk to your gf about this and see if she is comfortable with it. If you have to take many precautions, like always taking your gf along whenever you meet your female friends, then imho it's not worth it. If you are ok with having female friends who are ten or so years older than you, then things are more likely to work out. In any case, just make sure you don't get too close, if you can talk to them about things that you can't tell your gf then that's an indication of trouble.

Only if you let things get out of control.
Look, having friends, even ones of the opposite sex is integral to a healthy relationship. Granted, there are different rules when you're involved... such as you obviously wouldn't want to put yourself in a compromising position... but if you're in a secure relationship, then your significant other shouldn't have any worries.

yes, i think it is asking for trouble.. It would be different if they were already friends before you met your girlfriend and you have remained friends with them, but to start new friendships with girls when you are in a relationship is not a good thing.. Stick with your guy friends.. No need to invite trouble into your relationship..

The only way you can be friends with the opposite sex without it causing problems is to hang out with them only in a group setting. If you guys take off on your own trouble awaits. This might sound pessimistic but I think its realistic.

no, if you want a female friend, make one. All that is required to maintain a male/female friendship is maturity!

No, why would you. Friends are friends. If you keep it that way, then you should be fine. If you are looking for more, and you just don't want to admit it to yourself.. stay away! It can only harm your "loving" relationship!
