This is an interesting question, and you sound sincere in looking for answers.
I really don't think any human has it completely figured out.
If believing in Jesus is all that it takes, Ghandi, Einstein, and many people who brought compassion into this world are in hell. Conversly, many people who have done terrible things in their lives, but still claim to believe in Christ should be in heaven.
If I was given the option of who I would want to spend eternity with, I think I'd rather suffer in hell. Heaven would be insufferable.
This is a gross oversimplification.
I have no objections with the message of Christ. His message of compassion and sincerity on the Sermon on the Mount is probably the greatest speech ever recorded. Look it up - Mt 5-7.
Christ also said most of us aren't going to heaven either. Remember the eye of the needle story. If you ever see how many people who profess faith behavie, both in public and private affairs, you can see what thats about. I've been to enough churches. They become more self rightous than rightous. They go and persecute others, even those in their own community, or those who they think are wrong, because they are right. What ever happened to love thy enemy? Anyways, this should be another question...
I think the faith of the centurion is the best example of faith. He openely trusted Christ and did what he was told, as simple as if Christ was his commanding officer. Nothing more, nothing less. No speaking in tounges. No hyperbole.
I think that life is a learning process. We are most likely here to learn something. Maybe its how to be deal with yourself and others. Maybe its to learn compassion. Maybe to learn love in its many, many forms. The best we can do is be open to the lesson.
I wouldn't worry about judgement. Be sincere in your intent. Do well for yourself. Do well for others. Don't be mean or self rightous. That will probably take you far enough in this world and the next.

Do not depend on any God .for each God says that those who do not believe in Him goes to hell. So if you believe in one God , the other also being a God would be consigning you to hell . If you believe in the other God , the first one will be consigning you to hell. So do not believe in any god if you really want to be in heaven . Because gods themselves are in Hell only now.and need redmption.
So the best way to go to heaven is to do unto others what you would like them to do unto you. That is do not do to others what you would not like others to do to you . No God will be capable of consigning you to hell. Heaven and hell are in our mind only. Think not ill of others so that thou shall not be in hell .
Remember that we do not really die . Death is as much an illusion as life is .
Our body is made up of the compounds made of the elements . Our death is like the dischage of an battery .You see any electronic equipment working with battterey stipo woerking when the batteries are alive . When the batteries are dead , th edevice stopos functioning . In the devis you have you can chage the batteries and enable them to function now .but in yh ecaseof th ebilological machine , when the battery in the brain is discharged , the heart and lung stop functioning and the blood in all the capillaries clot and turns in to ta semi-solid blocking the capillaries which are microscopic and innuerablke in length . they can be drained and filled with fresh blood and they undego biological changes that does not sustain lif eby decay the tissues . But the being thou is dead , the matter contained in its body is vey much alive . evey cell and atom in th eelements of the compound of which teh body is made of is fuctioning . you cansee them under theelectron microscope . they are not dead and they undergoa change . they rot , decompose and change on ot something else . Teh body butrried under earth is digested by th eearth and recycled in ot humus and they are partley aborbed by the plants the\at migh grow around and partly remain as decompsed elements in the earth itself . But all thewhile they are working and continue to work . If the electrons in the atoms oif th elements in theworld stop working , the whole universe will cease to exist .Matter is unborn and thare fore is undying . Butwe say that the invidual or the being is dead .B ut nothing is reallydead . They change from to another . Nobody dies ; but every body take different forms withthe passage of time . change form one to another . that is reincarnation.
We will not get back this human form .so it is precious and only one we have . make thebest use of it and let everuy one enjoy it in full to the end . The world will be happy and will ge heaven. We already in heaven ; but most of are tiurning it into hell.by believing in the Gods we would never see. Those who talk about god have not seen him and those who have seen have talked about him as they were not alove when they saw the God.

If you consciously know something is wrong, don't do it.
Help someone not for personal gain, but because you WANT to help.
Remember that to live life is to save a life, not to take one.
Most important, don't immediately believe what others preach, but find out for yourself what YOU think is the "right path to take," whatever it may be.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
You must call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, believing on him, in his sacrifice for YOUR sins. Ask him to forgive you, find a church, speak out about your salvation,,for the Bible says you must confess before men, your belief in Jesus as your Savior.... don't be ashamed of him....then get baptized in water, and you shall receive the holy spirit,,,which is Jesus in your heart forever.
