Race is defined as a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits while Ethnic refers more to the customs and culture of a given group. It's very likely that in larger countries that an indivdual will show racial characteristics (hair color, facial features, skin tone, etc) but have any where from full to none of their original ethnic group.
