Make sure that they're formulated for men and that you're not taking more than the RDA. In fact, since you will get some iron from food, take less than 100% of the RDA. Men need much less iron than women, but this doesn't mean that you shouldn't take an iron supplement at all.

I'm diagnoses borderline anemic.. something not too common in men.. but it does happen and usually it's due to diet or low absorption... now most vitamins and supplements can be harmful if you get too much of it.. but iron is a little more forgiving than some of the others.. for me, i go 3 weeks on, 1 week off.. that way my system has a chance to clean out any extra minerals built up that shouldn't be there. also boost your vitamin C intake because vitamin C helps the body absorb iron..
one more thing.. make sure you do need to be taking iron.. most men have no need for extra iron.. they get plenty in their diet and since they don't lose iron monthly like women there is no need to supplement.

Most men do not need iron supplements and in fact most guys have too much iron - that why we make such good blood donors. Get your levels checked by a doc and go from there.

Too much iron can actually contribute to problems with your prostate. Make sure the supplements you take are better quality. Centrum and One A Day are garbage as the molecules cannot reach the cells as they are too large. Speak with a nutritionist.
