I'm thinking you might need some English as a Second Language classes based on what you wrote and the spelling/grammer of it.
An essay is just a body of writitng longer than a paragraph or two.

What they did was give you 5 types of essays - 1. descriptive - discrives something - descriptive phrases 2. narrative - gives a brief summary of 3. argumentive - argues pros and cons of any subject 4. reflective - gives an analog of essay 5. gives essay in the form of a story - hopes these help!@

essayer=try. Montaigne, first essays=he TRIED to explain, consider some things... In my language it means a text in which you consider a problem, but you don't actually write only about this problem, you involve contexts, other thoughts, you don't even have to start with a clear statement, question or sth. But - it must be clear and wise and very intellectual. But when I wrote essays in english , it made an impression that almost all texts could be called essays... - when you write a homeweork, for example, after english lessons or sth.... Strange..

a descriptive essay describes anything. It couls be an object, a person or anything!!
a narrative essay is when the story is narrated by one person.
argumentive is when you debate a topic. make sure you look at both sides... dont make it on your point only

Anything but a story. An essay doesn't just retell events but makes some analysis of the subject matter. An essay is also non-fictional (i.e.) not a story.

An essay is all of those things, its a collective of thoughts and facts that can be descriptive, narrative, argumentive, or reflective.
As essay should be well developed, and thought out, so that who ever reads it, understand your point, and what your are trying to say.
