Don't know if this will help your particular situation; but, our local grocery store was giving out "FREE " long distance calling cards last fall. They were good for $1 only, but it was 5 cents/min, so they were good for 20 free minutes from mobilephone (cell phone). I took about 30 of them and used them right through Christmas.
The rates to Europe were a little higher than 5 cents BUT not much. IF YOU CAN EVER GET SOME "FREE" CARDS IN A PROMOTION LIKE THAT, TAKE A HANDFUL, DON'T BE SHY. They don't care how they go, just as long as they get taken.
Good luck.

Instead of using that mobile , try using skype with skype credit :)
www.skype.com
it gives you the ability to make calls over the net to other computers and with a small fee , possibly less than 7p you can call land phones and mobiles.
give it a try.

Look at the rates for various mobile companies which are known for low international rates. I call my family and friends who live in the Russian Federation from Canada. You've just got to inquire at several places to find the best deal.
