Not many folks want to go out in the rain and so one tends to stay home. With the overcast skies and the pitter-patter of rain, it's quite soothing and hence, it is easy to take a nap.

Usually when it rains it's darker outside, and the 'sound' of rain can be very relaxing :-)

cascade effect. the rain makes you want to be with someone for body heat, the body heat expends engergy (if done properly) and then you need a nap

I don't think it so much as makes you tired, it is just so soothing that you just want to go to sleep....I know that I do!!!
