What I come across a lot is at 4 way stops and yield signs people ignore the correct driving rules and yield to let others go first when they actually have the right of way. I think this confuses everyone and slows down the movement of traffic because often everyone justs sits there waiting for someone to move, possible causing an accident because 2 or more then decide to move at the same time. What are your thoughts, does this bother anyone else?

Yes, good samaritans mess up the flow of traffic all the time. Not just at 4 way stops, either. I hate it when you're trying to merge with traffic and someone slows down to let you pass them, but you actually are willing to go behind them.
Or, better yet, they have about 20 cars behind them and they stop to let someone make a left hand turn in front of them and block the next lane too so they can go in the opposite direction.
If everyone practiced good defensive driving and learned that when you obey the road rules, everything will be fine.
And just a note to Momknowseverything... When people express their opinions about this, and then people read it, WE ARE LEARNING from each other... YOU just answered to gain points!

I don't think it is a problem as long as it is done in a common sense way. I personally think that there is too little politeness in the world and if people were a little more civil to each other, it would be a better place to live. As far as this not being a 'chat' site, I think that a majority of questions are asking for opinion, as is this one, so, sorry to point it out 'mom knows everything' but without the opinion questions, this site would be very boring...

I agree with you, You are not doing anyone a "favor", by breaking the rules. Follow the Law! Allow people to be responsible drivers.

I get mad at my mom all the time for this! The grocery store she goes to - when she enters it, it is a "four-way" stop with only a "3-way" stop sign - she has the right of way and stops EVERY TIME! I keep telling her, she's gonna cause an accident one of these days! Thanks - i am happy to see i am not the only one this irritates! :)

I agree with you completely. But this question does not fit within the guidelines of this site. This isn't a "chat" site where people exchange opinions. It's supposed to be for asking factual questions, and getting information from people who know things that you don't know.
