my husband had enough courtesy and considertaion to quit. Cigarette smoke makes me sick and I have worked in nurserys where the children of parents who smoked were always sick, on breathing treatments, haveing respiratory problems, etc. It was important to me that cigarettes were not an issue in our lives, besides the fact that they are a huge waste of money- it did not make sense to not be able to pay the electric bill on time but never lacking a cigarette. He quit and we have lived a smoking free 14 years of marriage and he does not miss it! In the short run it is hard but in the long run it is well worth it.
My uncle quit cold turkey after 40 years of chain smoking- if he can do it ANYONE can!

Nope, I would never do anything for anyone but myself. I have gone out with 2 long term bfs (long term meaning 5yrs each) and even though both were not smokers, I did not quit.

What do you mean "after someone"... you mean to date? Why is this in Education / Trivia category?
Anyway -- no. However, I wouldn't smoke around that person. I don't smoke around people who do not like cigarette smoke.

You have to be totally honest with someone. You can't hide smoking. Sure, quitting is best, but don't lie to someone about it.

nope sorry, its a personal trait and if I wanted to give up it would be for myself not anyone else. I would however feel guilty everytime i lit up in their company but smoking doesnt make me a bad person, its a bad habit.

If I wanted them badly enough and they wanted me to I would. But in return it is only fair they give up a habit you do not like or they do something for you in return.
