Yes.

The common definition of a refugee is one who flees something (war, natural disaster, oppression) to take refuge somewhere else. However, leaving somewhere just to find better opportunities does not make you a refugee.

Trying to avoid the negative connotation of the word does not mean you can just change the definition to make someone feel better.

No. I'm thinking often (but not always) lazy and with a victim mentality where you wait for help instead of doing what you can to help yourself. Refugee is pushing it.

I am an Aussie and if they are not classed as 'refugees', then they ought to be...They still need all the assistance they can get, no matter where it comes from...

They were, but, now, a year + later. The ones that are left are just leeches and lazy loafers. No surprise, they were lazy loafers and leeches when they lived in New ORleans. They are not worthy of your pity or support.
