I took a HPT yesterday am and it showed a dark pink line and a faint pink line, but the lines weren't close together! The directions say that the liines don't have to be the same color so I took it as a positive and they also say that the positive result will last for at least 48 hours and the test still reads the same! I went today to take another test to be sure and it said negative!! I have an appt today and I'm gonna try to get the blood work done and I have another appt next week to get the details if I am pregnant!! I've had the symptoms and my cycle is late!! Has this happened to anyone before?? If so, what were your results???

This has happened, I took a hpt and it was positive so I went to the doctors and theirs was negative so I came home took another and it was positive and went back to the doc another negative. So I throw a little fit and demanded a blood test and they agrued there is no reason it says negative and I showed my positives and they went ahead and did it and called me the next day apolizeing because I was pregnant already almost two months. See every test detects a different level so if it is a sensitive test it will pick up before a non sensitive test. I wish you the best! I hope that Congrats is in the order!

It could be because you are very newly pregnant i had something similair with my 1st. But it was aplus minus test and my minus sign went the wrong way which was really a positive but the other line was so faint I could hardly see it. I took another 4 days later positive agian and my Dr. blood work came back positive a week later. I will tell you it is more likely to have a false neg. than a false positive. Good Luck and congrats.

not like yours, but on home pregnancy test, my lines (2 pregnancies) were never dark on the second line, never stayed on for more than three hours, didn't matter if I took the test one day or a week apart.

With this pregnancy the first test the lines was so faint I thought I was igamining it, and the second line it wasn't very much darker, but there no the less.

i'm 14 weeks pregnant now, and my home tests ( i took 4 of them) all showed a very very faint pink line. you can get false negative tests, but its rare to get false positive ones. i would say you are pregnant since you did get a faint line. you're doing the best thing by going to the doctor. good luck!!
