I'm not too sure if there was someone before Freud that discoverd the unconscious, although I do know that there was someone before him that discoverd the conscious.

Freud is credited with the discovery in scientific term. But he often referred to German philosopher Nietzsche as a precursor of his theories. He saw the works of Nietzsche as the first psychoanalysis of a person.

i'm not sure if this is right, but sigmeund freud was the first to actually study the unconcious mind and dreams so i figure hes the one who "discovered" it
