One of President George W. Bush's fiercest political opponents at home took his side on Thursday, calling Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a "thug" for his remark that Bush is like the devil.

"Hugo Chavez fancies himself a modern day Simon Bolivar but all he is an everyday thug," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said at a news conference, referring to Chavez' comments in a U.N. General Assembly speech on Wednesday.

Chavez is a demented man. He is wasting his country's resources on cronyism. Venezuelans will one day pay a heavy price for their communist dictator. I think it took a lot for Pelosi to call the guy a thug right after he insulted Bush.

Well, you must understand spanish to really get all the message. He said many thruths. The "devil" and the other comments are only one little "funny" part of his speech. If you will just understand the rest of the message you would see the value on his words. The media will portray only something that is really bad about what he said, and of course is a joke from him, to deny everything else on the message.
Personally I loved his speech, very stron, very assertive, many thruths and I believe, he understand that is going to be the only time he will have the chance to talk at ONU, so is kind of a final speech. He spoke for many nations.

You shouldn't take everything at face value. Reconsider the question in 2 years time when we have a Democratic President and you will find Pelosi, is at home knitting jackets for the grandchildren.

Hugo Chavez is a demogogue and he thrives on attention. He is full of falsehoods and nothing that he says is to be believed.
A tenet of Communism is that lieing to your enemy is allowed and is to be practiced.
Hugo is a Communist after all.He is not a friend of America.
His speech was garbage.

He exaggerated I think! He was funny when he started praying aloud. I can't remember what his words were but something like " O God keep us safe from this devil" !
