80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

Human life as we know it, is to be a learning ground for self improvement. We are to learn from our mistakes, AND our victories, and use them for the betterment of ourself and the rest of humanity, and in the end, we are to worship God willingly and openly. (The entire purpose of Free Will)

For those that do not believe in things unseen, Try to quit breathing!

The Westminster Catechism describes the main effective purpose of a Christian's life. Islam has the purpose of being obedient to the 5 pillars and earning benevolence from Allah. some eastern religions have some form of reincarnation plan, and you will desire to do issues to earn that. Atheism is a sprint trickier. i've got talked to three of them approximately this, and that i've got considered what others (some known, some not) have had to declare. some will say there is not any purpose, and then they'd desire to preserve the theory that they don't prefer one. Others come at it from a perspective of (or one corresponding to) secular humanism, the place the main effective purpose of human life its to glorify itself. i think of the Christian perspective of glorifying God and taking area in Him constantly makes greater experience than the Muslim perspective. The God of Christianity differs from the God of Islam in greater approaches than purely the trinitarian kind. The God of Christianity easily loves human beings, while the affection defined in Islam is named "benevolence," which genuinely volume to not smiting you. So the purpose of a Muslim's life has greater to do with avoidance quite than easily searching for after a relationship with God- some thing it is crucial to a Christian's life yet nonexistent in that of a Muslim. i think of the Christian perspective makes greater experience than the eastern religions, via fact reincarnation would not take place. sufficient mentioned. i think of the Christian perspective makes greater experience than the fashion of atheistic perspectives, via fact the human race isn't so candy our significant purpose would desire to be to glorify ourselves. it is way too selfish for me. And for the atheists who do not think of they prefer a purpose, i think your significant purpose is to effectively stay as in case you probably did have a purpose at the same time as on the same time have faith which you have not have been given one. That would desire to be confusing. yet a number of you pull it off. i don't understand how.... i'm valuable there are different perspectives of extraordinarily solid value, yet those are those i ought to think of of suited away. i'm sticking with the 1st answer to the 1st question of the Westminster Catechism as my reaction.

To worship, live, love, laugh, forgive, dance, sleep, write, read, marry, snuggle, invent, design, create...I guess every answer to this question will be as unique and individual as each person that answers it.
