Yes and Yes

The new Mac version is different, and doesn't support all features, but it does support web cam communication. 2.5.3 does not support webcam anymore.

i'm not sure, but there is a version of Yahoo Mess for MAC than that shouldn't be a problem, just install the messenger and connect just like usually
