I am not sure if the question is either/or or something else - If I think about events that have shaped American culture the most it would be neither of these - I would include in the top 3 (obviously) the American Revolution, The Civil War, and perhaps World War II. I could include in the next tier (in no order) the industrialization of America, The cold war, The fall of communism, The Great Depression, World War I and Vietnam.

The Great Awakenings refer to several periods of dramatic religious revival in Anglo-American religious history. They have also been described as periodic revolutions in American religious thought.
The Age of Enlightenment refers to either the eighteenth century in European philosophy, or the longer period including the seventeenth century and the Age of Reason. It can more narrowly refer to the historical intellectual movement The Enlightenment, which advocated Reason as a means to establishing an authoritative system of aesthetics, ethics, government, and logic, which, they supposed, would allow human beings to obtain objective truth about the universe.
Likely the latter was more important to today with the decline of mainstream religion generally

So, use the strategies and ideology yet do not quit at that time itself, do not perceive with them, see that ego involvement with them won't crop up and be in a state wherein all of us understand that the purpose is previous the strategies and ideology; recommendations has capacity to try this too. confident, journey can understand it, be it, even though it fairly is 'senses much less' journey, an intuitive understanding, an understanding that dawns and descends, not travels by.
