Not sure why, but my sink smells bad. I don't have a garbage disposer, just a regular kitchen sink. I am looking for a deodorizer to pour down it to eliminate odor. Thanks so much!

There is probably food stuck in there and rotting. You need to clean out the plumbing.

Pour half a box of baking soda in the drain. Then, pour half a bottle of plain vinegar. Let it bubble up and dissolve for 20 to 30 minutes. Then pour scalding hot water down the drain. Repeat if necessary.

Try this, it for sure works. Amonia either lemon scent or plain. After doing the dishes at night or before work as long as no one will need to use the sink.Besides amonia has a very strong odor. But thats what it takes,to remove your sinks bad odor problem. Anyway, pour about one cup directly in the drain.I have at times put the plug in after to keep that amonia smell away. Let it sit at least 1 hour, and then run the hottest water for about 3 minutes. If the fist time doesnt drastically help, do it again let sit longer than first time. After do once a month.

You can pour some bleach or ammonia down onto the drain. A cup or so and not run the water for a while that will kill the bacteria that causes odors and after that you can squeeze a lemon and leave the leftover lemon in the sink or drain to continue deodorizing.

Hi

First use a foamy drain cleaner to clear the pipe..

If it still smells... Bleach... Fill you sink with Hot water and ADD 2 cups of bleach to it..... then drain it

Do this to both sides of the sink at the same time..each side gets 2 cups bleach

BUT do not mix this bleach water with any other cleaners not even dish soap.. or splash on you as it will take out color

Good Luck

My sink stinks sometimes to, I normally pour some bleach down the sink and it clears up the odor and makes it smell much more fresh. I think feed particles and goo gets stuck in the trap and causes the odor, so if the drainage is slow, you may have a gob of something stuck in there cause it to smell, use Drano to clear up the pipes and make them run smoothly again. Good luck!

Just a shot, but if it is a kitchen sink it probably has two bowls. Both of those bowls should have a P-trap underneath them. That trap holds a little bit of water at all times to keep sewer gases from escaping back through the drain and into your kitchen. If you only use one of those bowls, the other trap may have run dry and sewer gases are escaping through it. Just run some water into that sink and it may stop the smell.

The smell comes from bacteria that form on food particle build-up on the walls of the pipes. There are biodegradable products on the market that will "flush out" these odor causing particles if hot sudsy water, vinegar, and/or baking soda do not do the trick. WARNING!! Do Not Use Vinegar and Clorox together or immediately following each other! Try Home Depot, Lowe's and possibly Wal-Mart for the non-chemical products.

I would try a drain cleaner first. Some "gunk" may be sticking to the sides of the pipes. Then poor some bleach down there in case there is any mold or mildew.

One product that works great is Odo-Ban. You can get it at Sam's Club and Wal-Mart. This works great for other areas of concern; I bet it would be good for drains, too.
