it depends on the bios. Some it's F1, F2, delete or a combination of keys. You have to hit it before the windows splash screen loads.

You don't get into the BIOS while Windows is loading, you enter a BIOS BEFORE an operating system loads. The key you press depends on the make of the computer/motherboard. For many, it's the delete key.
BTW, F8 is not the key for a BIOS, it's the key for getting into "Safe Mode" in Windows XP.

Usually, you press and hold the [Delete] key. However, some computers use another key. After the memory check, a message will appear at the bottom of the screen which will tell you which key you need to press to enter in to bios settings screen.

Once windows starts to load it is too late! Usually pressing f2, f10, or esc will find the bios screen upon a reboot. Check the website for your computers make or motherboard manufacture.

If your motherboard is Asus, you have to press DEL after de Memory Check. If you have a Intel mobo, the key is F2.
Esc is used to remove the Windows Splash e show what your computer is doing. F8 is for the safe-mode and other options.
