if a prostitute is someone who sells their body for sex, how does that differ from a porn star? am i being controversial by saying i can see no difference?

they are worse than prostitutes because they are contributing to a sex lead sociaty. not to mention kids watching them and thinking sex is a mindless act i think all the pervs who watch that stuff should be locked up. GET A GIRLFRIEND AND LEARN TO MAKE LOVE.

Prostitutes don't sell their bodies. If anything, they rent them.
Porn stars don't sell their bodies either, they sell the image of themselves having sex, usually with people they already know at least slightly.
I know that a lot of people have a moral problem with porn and prostitutes, and it's not like I would encourage any daughter of mine to go into either business, but it would be nice if, just once, somebody actually tried to articulate the objection.
But I'm not going to formally ask it as a question because a.) I can work out the answer myself, and b.) I don't want to lose the points.

No you are not controversial - Porn stars are just like prostitutes, my question is how can some strip clubs in Florida get away with having dancers perform sex with customers for a fee. Is this not also Prostitution?

I would say yes, but that would not be fair. Ideally, I think that porn stars can choose which offers (for films) they accept. So they don't necessarily have to have sex with just anyone. Some prostitutes don't have that luxury - they end up having to have sex with everyone if they want to make money. Ultimately, I think that's the main difference.

You do need help and hopefully I can direct you in the right direction! Sex is not the be all and end all of everything, it's a gift from God.
Do you know what you are even talking about. This planet was Created by God, aliens are from comic books and sci-fi movies. We are put on this Earth to do great things for our Lord God and His Son, Jesus Christ. You have to sincerely ask Him into your life and the Holy Spirit will actually reveal the whole meaning of life to you, You will be given wisdom, as well as understanding of God's Holy Word, in The Bible.
People would rather believe in little green men from Mars, than from the Christ who died on Calvary to Save us all from our sins and lead us into an Eternal Life with God when our life on Earth is over. We were not created for no reason at all, nothing ever came from nothing and nothing ever did. The greatest scientific minds in this world cannot yet explain why "A Black Cow that eats Green Grass, produces White Milk, that makes Yellow Butter!"........You really have to get out more, and hopefully find a good Christian Fellowship where you can Worship and there are many who will be only too glad to tell you about the reality of Christ in your life.....Never knock a thing until you try it....and this is the real thing.

i don't agree with the assumption that all porn stars are doing what they love for a living. i think it's fair to say that women in both professions can be forced into it by some manner, rather than porn stars/prostitutes getting into the industry for the enjoyment of sex.
this brings to mind one of the biggest controversies concerning a pornographic film - deep throat.

I'm sure that they would like to consider themselves as actors/entertainers or, in many cases, athletes. What would you consider modern actors to be - there are some pretty raunchy sex scenes flying around these days? So I would say that there is a subtle (and meaningless) difference. At the end of the day they are all supplying a service to fulfil a want and getting paid for it - just like anyone else.

they're pretty darn similar. Although to the person who said porn stars have licenses and prostitutes don't. You don't need a specific license to do porn, but you do need one to be a legal prostitute. I know this, because I have one.
