ummm i think theres a more modest approach than simple saying, "sweetie, terrorists are trying to kill u and always will" when that's not true...terrorists intentions are not just to kill, they are to get attention on whatever it is they want, i dont think there really is a right age 'd say at least 10 or 11...but u should say there are ppl that dont like us and want to cause us harm, but we are goin to overcome it, and no matter what u have to lead a positive lifestyle...most def. dont tell them ppl are want to kill them thats ridiculous

You sound really scary when you say that. Seriously. Surprisingly, there are fewer terrorists-related deaths than car accidents, cancer-deaths, and many other versions of death, so my suggestion is to tell them how to be safe (buckle up, be active, eat healthy, and so on) and do that yourself. They will learn about terrorists later on, but when they're kids, it'll seem far off, and only will settle on them when they become teenagers. Say your words truthfully if they ask, but also remember that there's terrorists shouldn't be your main concern.

Em, I think your child is more at risk from being kidnapped, so I wouldn't go and scare your child, just teach them about stranger danger and tell them to always be on the lookout.

Think back. When were you first bombarded with scare tactics? The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming! Just to name one. There have always been terrorist, and there always will be.

No, that would scare the child too much!! He might have nightmares. I would tell him that there are good people and bad people in this world, and it is always a good idea to seek out the good people.

I would suggest answering your child's questions when the child asks, but do your best not to traumatize the child.
