http://www.princetonreview.com/grad/research/programProfiles/salariescareers.asp?programid=98 "an N.D. who runs or partners in a large, busy practice makes an average estimated income of $80,000 to $90,000 per year--and may make upwards of $200,000."

doesnt sound much different than an MD.

also, the herbal products cost very little to produce (probably pennies) and the companies dont have to pay for research and regulation like traditional drug companies do.

anyway, my point is natural medicine is as big or bigger of a rip off than "big pharma" so for those of you who constantly whine about how "big pharma" is so much more expensive and not about treating things, well, there you have it....

helo pilot: your immune system can clear up infections on its own. traditional antibiotics dont work that well on prostate infections so i beleive you when you say the antibiotics failed, but the pomegranate probably didnt work either

bmac: i totally agree with you. i dont mind people trying herbals for minor aches and pains, but i think the people who push herbal medicine for serious stuff like cancer are dangerous and should be jailed.

Cheaper? There's no comparison, all medications help one thing and hurt 100 others. Read the side effects. Many of the commercials for medications now list all the potential side effects listen to them many say lymphoma or leukemia, these are CANCER. Natural is better. If we want to be healthy we need to stay away from harmful chemicals. By the way I am an oncology nurse.

Yes, it is much cheaper.

Just be careful... I know for a fact that some of the minor stuff works--such as blackberry leaves on minor burns--it worked great! Remember, this stuff has been around for thousands of years, being used by everyday people who had no FDA to go to.

For things such as cancer, I wouldn't trust so much...

But don't take the FDA's word for it. They're going to want as much of your money as possible, so of course they're going to say that the herbal stuff is crap--they want you to spend you money on the "FDA approved!" stuff.

Don't forget that as since they aren't tested for quality either, there's no guarentee that the pills are even what they say they are.

Not only may ginsing not do a thing for you, there may not be any actual ginsing in the pill labeled "ginsing".

I research the FDA. The herbal stuff is crap. There is no testing of it, no clinical trials. It's a rip off aimed towards people who are desperate and these companies advertise that their "medications" will cure everything from cancer, diabetes, HIV, heart disease, etc. People go off their prescribed medications thinking they will be cured and they get so sick and some die. But these companies say in their ads (in the smallest print) that "results my vary and not to stop your meds without talking to your doctor.

It's really sad.
