The movie does have some truth to it. There was a man Eddie Gein. who killed women and then skinned them to make a suit. He was a serial killer. Wearing the people he killed that is where creators came up with "Buffalo Bill" from Silence of the Lambs. And Psycho. Here is a link to read up on the real Killer.

Not a true story. Look up Ed Gein.
I also read somewhere that there was a small Texas town that two missionaries were visiting and they were murdered by some kind of hand saw(not a chainsaw) and the killer(s) was never found.

the first one is based on a true story they were a family from texas.after that it was made for the movies. good stuff huh. one of my favorites.just like wolf creek is based on a true story to but that guy never got caught.interesting stuff i recommend going out on the internet and do some reading on it.

half and half ..it is really based on a guy named ed gein ..look him up..it may be spelled gien...but look it up and see...he skinned people aliive and was a weirdo
