They were able to play with the heat last year taking them to 6 games. Talent, they have a rising Nocioni, a good PG in Heinrich, and shooting star in Gordon, The best defensive player in the league( Wallace), also the rookie thomas, and PJ Brown. Held teams to the lowest FG% last year. Have a great coach. Also Detroit is on a downward slide, Miami is getting older, and Cleveland cant finish. Find me any reason why they cant be the favorites.

Wait until you see Big Ben at the free throw line and you see what happens when they throw the ball to Ben on offense.
Ben, is a GREAT denfender, person, and rebounder, but a liability on offense.... You'll see, mark my words, the Bulls lack a bigman as a threat on offense. This weakness will be exposed in the playoffs once again.

Don't delude yourself. The Bulls aren't championship contenders. Ben Wallace is a terrific player, but he isn't some savior. The Bulls are still very young (Tyrus Thomas), and inconsistent (Ben Gordon)in their play. Miami is a veteran team, with arguably the leagues best player (Wade), and coach. Throw in Shaq, and a bunch of former all-stars, and I predict the Heat walk away with the East. The Bulls will have a difficult time even winning their own division (the toughest in the league). Detroit, and Cleveland are still very formidable. Throw in New Jersey, and a possible dark horse contender in Orlando, and the Bulls will be very fortunate to go any further then the semi-finals.

I really wouldn't expect this year to big a good one for Ben Wallace. He can't shoot well. He can get a rebound and get the foul but even if he gets the foul he still sucks at the free throw line. Which doesn't help much. I really think that best defensive player thing only worked when he was on the Piston's team.. He is a great player, but I really don't think he will do well this year. Secondly the Bulls have to prove themselves before they can be favored for the fianls.

It's pretty simple why they're not favorites. This incarnation of the Chicago Bulls haven't won anything yet! They haven't even gotten out of the first round yet! Now with Ben Wallace and PJ Brown in the mix, maybe the young Bulls will finally get to win a playoff series.

Miami might be aging a bit but I still think they are the team to beat. The Bulls have a good young team though and perhaps this is the year they knock the big guys down a peg or two. But, I am still putting my money on Miami. With age comes wisdom.

History has shown, especially in Chicago, that chemistry and longevity are the two keys to winning the prize.
This team has not played together long enough to have either.
And, the ownership and management have not displayed interest recently of keeping their rising stars. The signing of Big Ben was a step in the right direction though...

1. wallace is not the best defensive player in the league. i am a lakers fan and Bruce Bowen of the Spurs shuts down Kobe everytime. he shuts down every teams best scorer everytime. all "Big Ben" does is rebound and i personaly don't think rebounding is defensive. well anyway...
2.i agree with you chicago did upgrade wth getting Wallace, they do have a great young team and i think they will be in the finals this year. possibly even win it all. if they can keep level heads i don't see whay they can't reel off 2 or 3 in a row.

Miami and Detroit have some of the best players in the game! Besides O'Neill, there's Wade, Hamilton, the list goes on forever. I believe they'll both make it to the end by Finals. Go Wade!!!

Miami and Detroit are still the two best teams in the East, hands down. Chicago is good, probably the third best team, but nowhere near what Miami is.
