My 8 month old woke up this morning jaundiced. She was at the children's hospital and they ran tests, she appears to be okay and her biliruben levels aren't high, but they think it is related to amoxicillin...anyone ever heard of this???

my oldest daughter experienced the same allergic reation with biaxin they had to take her of the antibiotic asap so In my opinion i would look for another antibiotic asap and consult the pediatrician and perhaps ask about going to a nephrologist(studies kidneys and liver)

I think I have heard somewhere about amoxicillin causing a yellowing to skin tone ie jaundice. as long as her levels are fine I wouldn't worry to much. Since I hear she is in the hospital, I hope she gets better.

if the hosp. is saying her bilirubin count isn't high then you have nothing to worry about. sometimes if you feed the baby yellow vegetables or fruits, this causes jaundice too.

i've never heard of amoxicillin causing jaundice. but to help the jaundice go away, expose your daughter to more direct sunlight and give her more formula or milk- whichever she's drinking.

amoxicillin, is an antibiotic used to treat infection. I know antibiotics affect people different ways, but I have never heard of that side effect. Good Luck with your baby.

Never. Don't leave the doctor's office until you get a satisfactory answer.
I've said a prayer for your baby and you.
God Bless.
Peace.
