Another good source of carbonate is seashells or coral. Put some seashells in a solution of any acid and CO2 will come bubbling out. In a weak acid like vinegar the reaction will be slow and you will see very fine bubbles rising. In a strong acid like 10% hydrochloric acid solution the liquid will actually appear to boil with the rapid release of CO2. However you can get a fairly rapid reaction even with a weak acid by finely dividing the carbonate. Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a good source. Put some baking soda into vinegar and you will get a rapid release of CO2.

Look up CO2 diffuser for aquariums on Google or You Tube and you will find simple methods using yeast and plastic bottles to generate CO2. .

put marble chips (Ca CO3) into acid, say HCl. but thats chemistry not biology? Do you want to do it biologically? if so you could try fermentation, you would need a demi john and a other stuff for wine making, then add yeast and sugar and away you go. The Carbon dioxide in this would normally just be vented, so you would nee to adapt a little to colect..
EXHALED air is ONLY about 3% CO2, sot hats NO good at ALL

i believe we exhale CO2 gas.. so if you had a device to measure the concentration of CO2 you could use yourself as the device making the gas.. maybe take a container that you can breathe into and measure the amount of co2 before and after you breathe into it..

The easiest way to make CO2 gas is CO+1/2O2----->CO2,
CO is very poisonous, when inhaled it attaches to the hemoglobin in your red blood cells, causing you hard to breath.
(you have to take the risk in doing this experiment.)

If you could find a piece of Calcium Carbonate (Chalk) ,add a strong acid like Sulfuric or Hydrochloric. This will give out Carbon Dioxide.

Here is an excellent site that includes a laboratory demo intended for school classrooms that generates carbon dioxide gas from vinegar and baking soda:
