In the UK according to sentencing guidelines a person who is convicted and sentenced to serve 4years or less then they will be elligible for release on licence/parole after half the sentence is served.

Someone sentenced to more than 4 years will have to serve 2/3rds of their sentence.

If given a life sentence - Rape is punishable with a maximum term of imprisonment of life - The judge will normally add a tarif to the life sentence. This is the minimum term the convicted person has to serve prior to release.

Early release is subject to quite alot of guidlines now and is subject to good behavior and depending on the situations tagging may be an option.

Whether you agree with early release is a sensitive politiacl matter and I like a lot of people have my reservations. As the system of early release does not seem to offer society at large the protection it deserves. As many well documented cases in the press are testament.

Castrate them with no anaesthetic then lock them up and throw away the key leaving them to rot.

My relative is a Prison Officer and Rapist don't get it easy they spend a lot of time in Solitary because other criminals want to beat them up.
But the rapist will serve 3years get out on good behaviour, but if they mess up in the remaining 3 years back in they go for the remainder

Yes, if you are a rapist your best bet is to head for England. Not only will the defence blast the victim as a whore who probably asked for it, but if the man is found guilty and sentenced to six years he would probably be let out after 3 with good behaviour. 3 years of living easy in a cushy cell with TV/DVD/Games/Films/Gym... yes a real holiday camp and all for free. But he might be released even earlier with a tag or with the way government is going he would probably escape Jail and just get a community sentence. Then he would complain his human rights have been breached and lots of do gooding idiots will fight his case for him to be released.
Then a technicality will be found and after release a huge compensation claim would follow and he would be minted for the rest of his natural.
Yes, head for England, the softest touch in the world.....

Makes you proud doesn't it........

Most states calculate early release based a minimum of 2/3 served. ie. 9 year sentence would be eligible for parole in 6 years. So for the 6 years, parole could be offered at four years

I think it would certainly depend on the State he is in and their Laws. I think he'd probally serve 1/3 of his sentence. It may depend on how much they dislike him also and how he behaves in jail to. I hope he serves it all! For harming a child! Sickos like that need the fullest time allowed! Have a great Day!

What kinda lousy judical system is that? Only 6 yrs jail for rapists? No wonder more women are getting raped. Are the officials corrupt or something? I heard in Singapore offenders get CANING and up to 20 years jail for banging women illegally.

In the UK, realistically he might not serve much of it at all, especially if he has been in jail awaiting trial as this counts towards the sentence. With good behaviour he could be out in two years tops.

I used to work in a sex offenders prison. They have no conscience, don't feel guilt or remorse. The sentence is never long enough, using the excuse the crime was committed under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The victim has the crime in their head for the rest of their lives and can never be released. Rape carries a life sentence, but unfortunately is rarely given.

Most of the time because correction departments know that without "proper" treatment [which those in charge of treatment refuse to institute due to an unknown fear within themselves... the result of insujfficient training], the rapist just incarcerated is likely to rape again at the rate of about 80% certainty.
