I have a couple of ideas for you. First, as you may already know..most of the local bead stores can be expensive. I happened to work for one that had decent prices and I was shocked when I went to other stores and saw what they charged! You could make a fortune opening a bead store. The best way to buy, (even if it's just for fun) is to go to "A Bead Show". There are a few big ones that go fom city to city ( Bead Renaissance Shows, Bead Merchantile, Puget Sound Bead Festival, Intergalactic Bead Shows, and on...) and cost about $5-$10 a ticket. You can do a search under local bead events in your area for a listing of shows and dates or go to www.thebeadingcircle.com/. Beadwork Magazine also puts out an issue that has the shows and info. for the current year.
The next option is ebay of course..you can get some deals, but you need to know what you're looking for. I go to Fire Mountain Gems and Beads (firemountaingems.com/)..they will send you a free Catalogue and Jewelry Making Magazine as well as offer great information for free (and email notification on specials that come about once a week) on-line at there website. There prices are decent.

I don;t know exactly what level you're at or what types of materials for that matter you'd like to use. If you are interested, I have a supply of materials in good shape that I no longer work with and could make arrangements to take pictures for you to check out these things if you're interested. I could give you a great deal and ship anything to you.

I hope this helps you...email me if you need more info or want to discuss the last option further. Good Luck!

Buy Bead Style magazine - I've been buying it for a couple of years year now and it is brilliant. Not only is it full of mouth watering ideas for making jewellery, at the back there is a directory listing all the places in every state of the US where you can buy beads and findings. Lots of places will offer a wholesale discount as well, if you buy in bulk.

(Are you in the US - thought you might be because of way you've spelt jewellery, but even if you aren't I think you can get this magazine in quite a few countries. Their website is: www.beadstylemag.com.)

We love making jewellery and often say we are envious of people who live in the US as you have so many wonderful outlets for beads etc., far more than we have in the UK!

Another great idea is to buy old necklaces from second hand shops or at auctions and break them up so you can re-use the beads in your own designs.

And there's always E-Bay - go to http://jewelry.ebay.com/_W0QQfromZR12 and you'll see the Jewelry Supplies, Loose Beads and Loose Diamonds and Gemstones categories.

Health warning - beading is addictive!!! Seriously, I've been beading for three years now and my husband for one year and we both adore it.

Good luck!

WalMart crafts department, crafts shops, through catalogs (there's a catalog, "Beads" or "Beading" available, which you could find out more about on line). Most catalog places wouldn't necessarily require you to use a credit card either online or through U.S. Mail. You could call, ask what an order will cost, and send a money order.

Michael's crafts has them. AJ Moore (Salem, New Hampshire)

I don't know how many places have Michael's, but there are some in Massachusetts.

You could go online for any number of bead places and order them. You could find out if AJ Moore or Michael's has a website or catalog, and if they do you could order by telephone.

1) www.firemountaingems.com
2) Michael's
3)check your yellow pages for a local bead supplier
4) Rio Grande sells beads, but some, possibly all of their products are limited to student/professional jewelers. It's worth a call for info, though--1.800.545.6566

You can usually find this sort of thing at some of the chain craft stores such as Michael's or Hobby Lobby.
