It was at one point, but the the federal government said that the states would not get road money unless the drinking age was raised to 21. My, how fast things can change! It is important to note, however, that the legal drinking age in Puerto Rico is 18.

They raised the drinking age in Texas from 18 to 21. The reason that the Texas government gave it that they want to get drinking out of the high schools. (Like that's really going to stop them).

They should lower it. Most other countries have lower age limits for drinking, and it makes sense. The more you make drinking taboo, the more people are going to do crazy stuff to get alcohol, and then go overboard binge drinking. Don't forget that for a while alcohol was completely illegal in this country - that doesn't mean it is the best way to do things.

Keeps kids and parents drinking together for 3 more years!!
It doesn't matter what the age is when anyone can get it and a lot of parents supply it.

Yes it should be lowered to 18 I think. It is in Australia...if you are considered an adult and vote and die for your country you should be able to drink also.

Because some 18 year olds are still in high school. That could be disastrous :)

Why not 15, while you are at it?
I mean, that's when we start drinking, or even earlier.
