we have an animal assistance in our town and they are desperately trying to give (adopt out) dogs that have been rescued. what would be a good way to get people to want to adopt or foster these precious pets.

Build a website featuring the pets by giving a picture and a little history of the dog, cat or maybe other animals.
Of course if you could give them away for free you'd get better results.

Host a picnic or open house or something. Make sure the dogs are clean & well groomed, have the dogs outside on leashes and have people walk them for fun. Advertise it is a "walk fit" event. Have some statistics handy on how walking improves your health and weight loss and "wouldnt it be nice to always have a friend to walk with?"

List them on Petfinders.com. Works great, lot of people search for pets there.

go to a pet store and a lot of times they will take them or know people that would take them, especially if it is a puppy or kitten

bring them to petstores where people actually see them without wanting to and they will likely get adopted once more people see what loveable things they are...

hold adoptions at petstores every weekend. once ppl see them up-close, they'll be more interested in taking one home.
