I know this is cruel but I just have a feeling that the cameraman plays a big part in Steve Irwin's death. Hadn't anyone notice that the cameraman identity is still not known yet and why was he not interviewed by the police etc etc? I know it's not John Stainton. I believe this ... If only that stupid cameraman had not blocked the sting ray's path and blocking that fish ... It would not have turn and strike Steve instead ... Steve knew it was ok to swim atop the ray but that stupid camera block the way and it turn into defensive mood ... Camereman ought to feel guilty.

I know this isn't going to be a popular answer, but I think Steve Irwin would have no one to blame but himself. Wild animals are just that, wild. There are so many clips of him diving on to animals in the water or jumping onto crocodiles. People just shouldn't do that. Nature and wildlife are to be appreciated, not wrangled by a guy in khakis. I know he was well-meaning and he brought attention to wildlife, but I don't think the way he approached it was right.

Uhhhh...I guess you don't undrestand that the cameraman works for Steve Irwin. He may well have been directed to be where he was. The whole thing was an accident. No use laying blame. The miracle is that he didnt get killed earlier. He was in a dangerous business.

We will all miss him, but dont make the tragedy any worse by laying blame.

I dont really agree with you. I would have had to have been there to acutally witness. Untill all the facts come out, you cant really blame anyone. This was just a really freaky thing that happend that we may never understand. What is for certain, a good man passed and 2 kids were left without their dad. God bless Steve, Terri, Bindi, Bob and the rest of the Irwin family.

the cameraman would have been on the boat well away from the accident when it happend. Usually in doco's specially in steves because he really did care and protect his crew underwater they usually put an underwater camera on a boe which was not operated by anyone at all. Don't make accusations like that when you don't know the facts. I would say that the camera man as well as the rest of the crew of irwins would have ALL been interviwed by the poilce.

Hey, take it easy on the guy. The security deposit on the rental camera comes out of his pay.

OK, for the sake of arguement, now what? The cameraman is guilty. Fine. Let's execute him, then chop up the pieces and feed them to the sharks. Does that bring Irwin back?

No, I wont blame the cameraman. Why?!!!
I blame Steve Irwin for Steve Irwin's death. He knew the risks, he knew what he was getting into. I'm sure he knew stingrays have barbs and that they would use it to defend themselves if they felt threaten.....so he put his own life at risk. His entire career was a risky, dangerous one.
So, no

i too heard that the cameraman was in front of the stingray and that is why it might have become defensive...feeling trapped in between Steve Irwin and the cameraman...

but i don't think he is to blame..... i don't think anybody was to blame.... it was a horrible accident...

R.I.P. Steve Irwin

One cannot the control the behavoir of animals. Steve is the one who pulled the barb out of his chest. Steve is also the one who got in the water. Accidents happen, sad as it is, but I blame the sting ray.

You are SPECULATING and forming a judgment with no basis in fact. Do not defile the guy's name and reputation as a cameraman unless you have stronger evidence than you "feelings." That is a sad conclusion, let alone unsupported!!

Chow!!

There is noone or nothing to blame..please let it go..It was just another risk that Steve took and knew of the consequences if anything unforseen was going to happen..It happened to him and even he..wouldnt lay blame...He would just simply have said, "Crikey, would you look at that"!!...
