I used to have this virtual friend, where we would chat a lot through the virtual world. It was exciting as we get to know each other better and kinda of became 'good friends'.

And of course one day, we decided to meet up. And that was the turning point, because we kinda broke contact after that. There was no more chatting on the msn. It was not my fault, but, yar, maybe it's just because of the meeting of me. It was like losing a 'friend' and know that those happy chatting moments are actually so superficial. oh, maybe it's just me that's superficial.

I had a similar situation. Thru conversations with a person online I really enjoyed his company and started to become attracted to him thru the time that we shared online. One day we decided to meet and the conversation wasn't there and any attraction was gone. Not because the person (okay don't know how to say this in a nice way) wasn't good looking, just because there were barriers that didn't exist online, and the virtual world gives you an opportunity to explore parts of yourself that might not be part of your everyday self. My true and best friends have come thru meeting face to face, and building a relationship that way. None of my online relationships/friendships have lasted. You are not superficial. I think you are just looking for something deeper than what you can find online.

You should probably get out there and meet people the normal way. Computers make relationships way to complicated. Things are too easy to misunderstand when you aren't there to see facial expressions and voice inflections. Chalk this one up to a learning experience and grab your car keys for a night out.

People are shallow...you just get used to it and don't let it phase you. You know if you are the genuine article or not...you might be better off without having contact with that person...Take care of you.

Here's an example of why friends on the net should stay as just friends on the net.
