This is a great question! In watching Westerns for 60 years, I never thought about that. They must have had clean-up crews standing by to remove any dung. They can always stop shooting long enough to clean up, then resume shooting. Of course, on the galloping chases out in the open, they probably don't worry about it. However, if the have to do a retake, they may have to clean up some droppings so it won't be seen in the second shooting.

Because the horses and cattle have it written into their contracts "no pooping while shooting". It all started when Bessie the cow was caught pooping on the set by the tabloids. They took a picture and put it on the front page of the paper. Poor Bessie was so embarrassed she quit mooovies and became a waitress.

Dunno if it counts as a western but..........Have you never seen Back to The Future Part III. 'Marty' jumps out of the way of a horse and lands in a pile of horse cr@p. Also when he knocks out 'Mad Dog' Tannen he lands in a barrow of manure, which was obviously taken off the streets. That could be why its very rarely seen on the floor.

Movies are the worst form of art. They're hurriedly done for mass production as cheap as possible. They then throw in sex and violence and voila! cheap trash ends up makes millions at the cinemas

It could be true! Good idea though don't you think!

for the same reason why you never hear tom cruise say," I'll be with you in a while, I've gotta have a dump". why people are always thin and beautiful, why women always rise from their sleep in full make up with perfect hair. reality is dirty, messy and doesn't sell.
