No, it's just common slang nowadays meaning the same as dude or guy in it's revised version which is in more usage like in hip hop spelled "*****", I mean if you listen to half the hip hop music out there like TI or Ludacris, even Camillionaire and 50 Cent, they use it nearly twice as much.

So I think it's within the context of the time.

while I don't like the word particularly as a racial slur (******) and that it's a completely uncool word used by anyone with prejudice or racial bias aimed at anyone else who is from another race or has a different skin color because we're all human and bleed the same.

It only shows a persons own ignorance, and it was no better really that the gang members used it because it was used in relation to hate, and that these guys hated each other just because of some bulls**t that happened between the people that started it a couple of decades ago, and they think they gotta continue someone else's problem just because they live a few blocks in the wrong directions from each other.

but to answer the question; it has a meaning of disrespect and inferiority for any person who acts in an inapropriate manner regardless of what they wear, how much they earn, goals and not supposed to pertain to their race or skin color, but unfortunately it becane synonimous with the African American culture.

So I see it is appropriate in the context of the movie because it's the street slang that the gang members used.

I haven't seen it yet but yes I think using that word is innappropriate as well as many other words, the only reason I want to see that is to see The Rock that is all. I plan on going this weekend, I truly hope it is a good movie, otherwise I will be very disappointed.

If the be conscious is utilized in context for the term and the circumstances I have no objection to it. What I do have a subject with is black human beings calling one yet another THAT at each threat in an attempt to sound cool. it is not - that's ridiculous.

No, it was not use in a sentence to be offensive. My friends use the word all the time, but not in the disrespectful way. I'm only offended when I hear other races use the term , when they are talking to one another.

I have to say I found it more offensive that you would feel the need to tell people with the "n word" rhymes with,Every one knows what you are talking about.
