It turns out, the only reason McCain is demanding that prisoners like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed -- mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, the beheading of journalist Daniel Pearl and other atrocities -- be treated like Martha Stewart facing an insider trading charge is this: "It's all about the United States of America and what is going to happen to Americans who are taken prisoner in future wars."
McCain, along with Sen. Lindsey Graham and Sen. John Warner -- or, as the Times now calls him, the "courtly Virginian" -- want terrorists treated like Americans accused of crimes, with full access to classified information against them and a list of the undercover agents involved in their capture. Liberals' interest in protecting classified information started and ended with Valerie Plame.

The Guantanamo detainees are not innocent insurance salesmen imprisoned in some horrible mix-up like something out of a Perry Mason movie. The detainees were captured on the battlefield in Afghanistan. You remember -- the war liberals pretended to support right up until approximately one nanosecond after John Kerry conceded the 2004 election to President Bush

What people do not want to realize is , terrorist are not of a country.. They murder for no other reason than the want too . They have no agenda other than racking havoc against the world.. What exactly are these terrorist , without a country , fighting for . Since they have no country and therefore will never abide by the Geneva Convention how can they fall under the protection of the Geneva Conventions rules ? I do not see how President Bush asking for "clarity" should be a problem... Just clarify The dang rules , that is all Bush is asking for.. I agree with you....

Sadly, the Geneva Conventions are only binding to nations. Is USA a nation? Then I'd suggest you follow the rules like every other civilized country.

that is confusing to comprehend what you're asserting. yet you're conscious, are not you, that the very best court docket ruled some months in the past, and many years in the past, and quite a few different circumstances over the final decade that any one held in US custody gets constitutional protections, and any 'enemy warring events' held are coated by potential of the Geneva convention. you have easily study the correct regulations, have not you?

Oh no ! Don't question the liberals, then you're a "sheep." God forbid you ask a logical question, you're off Babs Streisand's Hannukah Card list.
Funny that if a liberal had a member of his family beheaded he'd cease to be a liberal.

We are not terrorists. We are a nation of Laws. We need to start acting like it. When we treat the terrorists like they would treat us, then we are no better than they are.

McCain's a wuss. I say we define the limits and if we do it right it will make our system as barbaric as theirs. Nothing wrong with eye for an eye when it comes to governments.
