Most PC companies have a very user friendly restore process. I'd say it won't be bad. It WON'T backup your data such as pictures and email. HP has the option to just restore Windows which will clean off your applications, but not harm data. They also have a factory refresh that will be like taking it out of the box.

Very easy. Ther is an install wizard -- prompts -- to walk you through it. Be sure to save any documents, spreadsheets, etc. that you have stored on your hard drive. Otherwise they will be lost. Any additional software that was on your computer will have to be reinstalled ex.: Microsoft Office 2000 (2003), Norton Antivirus, etc.

good luck
